LoCo News

Party like a Noble Numbat

The Ubuntu-pt Community will host an release party, celebrating the release of 24.04, with a install fest for all the flavors, and a LAN party (SuperTuxKart). The time is set for Saturday, April 27 from 11:30 AM in the Linux Center laboratory, Lisbon. The plan of activities is provided and we are advised that the Ubuntu Code of Conduct, as well as the Ubuntu diversity declaration, will be observed. A link for registration is provided.

UbuCon North America 2024 Call for Papers

Simon Quigley tells us that UbuCon North America will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin in August, and that invitations to present/speak are open. We're reminded what UbuCon is, and what is sought for in submissions as well as some tips for making a good proposal. NVIDIA GPUDirect over Infiniband Migration Paths

Dann Frazier writes about some changes Ubuntu is experiencing when the 6.8 Linux kernel is used in regards to NVIDIA GPUDirect Infiniband memory sharing. This post describes the changes, and gives users some details that may impact users of specific hardware. This will be noticed by users of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, but also in the future users of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS when they receive the HWE 6.8 kernel. Options available to users are provided.

Subiquity 24.04.1 has been released to the stable channel

Dan Bungert announces the release of Subiquity 24.04.1, that will be used in the new Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. As well as prior releases (23.10, 22.04.4 LTS, and 20.04.6 LTS via snap refresh) Subiquity is used across most flavors too. Details of the release, and what is now possible, are outlined; including a list of bug fixes, known issues and new contributors.
